10 months old!

My baby is 10 months old today!!! I say this every month but where does the time go! I can't believe he is going to be 1 before we know it!!! When ever I am in Ayden's room changing him he quickly rolls over and tries to stand up on the wall and reach for a collage we have hanging. Lately I have been telling him that is baby Ayden and I tell him how big he is now. I just can't believe how quickly he grew out of the baby stage.

This past month we have not had many first but he is getting so much closer to walking! He walks around everything! He will even stand up against the wall and walk around the walls of the house. Yesterday we were outside and he found a stick and took both of his hands to hold the stick and then realized he was standing without holding on so he quickly braced himself again on his wagon.

Just this past month he has really started to try to play with his friends. We were at the Blanchard's on Monday and it was so fun to see Kyler and Ayden chase each other around their house! They did not stop moving! It was also fun to see another baby as busy as Ayden!!! :) Today I noticed he would crawl away from Jordann and stop and wait for her to chase him. Its so fun to see him play with other babies!!

Ayden is starting to like balls and starting to throw things. We got a little UNI football from a friend and he loves when we count to 3 and then throw it to him. He is now throwing it back! Also, if you sit on the floor and roll him a ball he will also will roll it back. It is very fun now but I am nervous that I will be eating my words once he starts throwing everything...I'm sure its only a matter of time! Ayden is all boy!!! We were at Target this week and walked through the toy isle. I showed him this mega bouncy ball and he thought it was so fun! From then on every time we walked by a ball he would make his new excited noise!!!

Not only does he like balls but he is starting to like trucks too. He loves to play with the wheels and notice how they move. We got a cement mixer that clicks and he loves playing with it!

My baby is growing up but I love every minute of it!!!

Roseola

Last week Ayden had Roseola. I wanted to blog about it so I had records of what happened and how long it lasted. Also, if anyone is curious about what Roseola is you can keep reading :)

A week ago Sunday, we spent the day at Graduation Open Houses. At one I was changing him and notices a few spots but thought it could be his exzema coming back. Later that night I was getting him ready for bed and he had a rash from him neck to his knees. This rash looked like red pin sized dots all over! I was nervous and showed Brett. Both of us decided that it might be a food allergy and he was acting normal so we thought it would run its course and I started thinking about what he ate that might be new.

Monday morning when Ayden woke up he had crusty eyes and a gross nose along with a fever of 100 degrees and his spots were getting a little worse. Still thinking it could be allergies we just spent our day like normal but called the doctor just to make sure. By the end of the day I was for sure it was not allergies because his fever continued and the rash was climbing to his face and down his legs. His fever peaked at 102.5 degrees Monday night. Also, on Monday his appetite went down. He would still eat but not as much as normal and really did not want a bottle. We made sure he was getting water but I was a little worried he might get dehydrated.

Tuesday the rash was still all over and not getting any better and his fever was still around 101 degrees. We had a doctors appointment to get it checked out and she confermed that it was roseola. I had check the mayo clinic website and with his symptoms this was one of the diagnosis. Check out this site if you ever are concerned!! www.mayoclinic.com Tuesday was probably the worse day of the sickness where Ayden did not feel good and was fussier than normal. We spent lots of cuddle time on the couch and took some good naps! Its never fun having a sick baby but I do like the cuddles!!!

The doctor told us that Roseola is a viral rash that comes with the yucky nose and crusty eyes and fever. It is contagious and Ayden could not see any of his friends until Friday of that week! She said Thursday might have been ok but we wanted to be safe. We waited for his nose to clear up and for his fever to be completely gone! It is also something that you only get once.

At first when I found out he had gotten this I was a little bummed because it was such a nice week and its never fun to have a sick baby but after everything is said and done it really wasn't to bad. He really only acted sick one day. He is still a little speckled but should be cleared up in a few days! I am glad he is done with it!

I did take pictures of his cute speckled body but I am still missing my camera cord so until then...

Mother's Day!

This past weekend we had a great time celebrating Mother's Day! On Saturday we had my parents and Brett's parents over to grill out. It wasn't very nice out but we all were able to be together so that was fun! It doesn't happen enough. Ayden gave both grandma's a book called 'Grandma and Me' by Karen Katz. I love her books and when I saw that one I knew it would be a great gift! We wrapped it up and I let Ayden finger paint the paper. It was so cute he loved doing this and when he was done he picked up the book from his tray and dropping it on the floor. It was like "well I'm done with that one".

On Sunday, Brett let me sleep in which was great! I have not been able to sleep in lately so it felt awesome! I didn't even hear Ayden wake up! When I did get up I had homemade waffles ready for me! They were so good and I love being able to have breakfast as a family! The best part was after breakfast Brett cleaned up everything!! Then we went to church and spent the rest of the day outside working on the yard and garden and trying to keep Ayden entertained (which means I didn't get much work done:))

This Mother's Day was very special because it was technically my first Mother's Day. Last year I was pregnant but now having Ayden and being able to celebrate being his mommy was great! Being called a Mom and a Wife are my two favorite titles! I feel very blessed to have Brett and Ayden in my life!!!

Ayden is 9 months old!

Ayden turned 9 months old last week. I have been putting off writing this post because we had his check up today and I can't find my camera cord and wanted to upload some pictures. I guess the pictures will have to wait till another post! :(

I can not believe how much Ayden has changed since last month! He has so much personality now and loves to play with kids of all ages! He loves when Jordann is at our house! They are such good buddies and I love to see them play together everyday! He also loves Ellie, the little 1st grader I take to school every morning. When she comes he starts panting and crawls quickly to her. She is here for breakfast and helps get him dressed in the morning. I am so happy that I am able to spend my days and home with Ayden and that he also gets to play with friends everyday!

This month Ayden has become a pro at crawling very quickly and pulling himself up on EVERYTHING. He also walks around all our furniture and can stand by himself for a few seconds. Once he notices he is standing then he quickly either hangs on to something or sits down. My favorite is when he sits on his knees while playing with something. I just think he looks so big like that! He loves to find things he is not supposed to have! He will crawl past all of his toys to get to a piece of paper or cord then turn and look at me like haha :) If you can't tell yet he is quite the mover! He is very hard to change now! He hates to be on his back! He also LOVES his bathtime! If you turn on the bath water he drops what he is doing and quickly crawls to the bathroom while panting :) He has also become very vocal this month! He loves to say dada, mama, baba, lala, mmmmm, blabla, and also yell! We have been trying to get him to sign instead of all the yelling at dinner time and he has been able to do 'more'. It is just so funny to watch him really know what he wants now and figure out how he can get it.

Ayden is now on all finger foods and he favorite foods are grilled cheese, mac and cheese, cinnamon toast, sweet potato, and bananas. Does anyone have any suggestions for finger foods that have meat in them? I boil chicken and then shread it for him but he does not enjoy that but he will eat it. Any other suggestions anyone?

At Ayden's appointment today he weighed in at 23lbs 8oz (90th%) He went from laying to rolling to sitting while she was doing this so I might be a little off :) And he is 29 inches long (85th%). He did great at his apt today but this was the easy one, no shots till next time!

We have loved to watch Ayden's personality come out more and more each day! He brings so much joy and laughter to our lives! I can't wait to see what the next month has in store for us! Hopefully we will have a walker by 10 months :)

2 Years and Counting!!

Brett and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary on April 19th, also Brett's 31st birthday! I can't believe we were married 2 years ago! Some days it feels like our wedding was not that long ago but other days I feel like we have been married forever (in a good way :).

When I think back to the last 2 years I realized how blessed we are to have each other and an amazing son! We have awesome families, amazing friends and Jesus who we lean on daily!

Today at church the teaching was on Love. Our pastor did a great job explaining how love is not only there when things are going well but when things are not going so well or when you are facing hard times. He compared that to his grandparents love. He thought they were the perfect couple and that they had love so deep but he witnessed an different love when his Grandpa had to take care of his Grandma. I could relate to this because I was there with my Grandma on her last days and was able to see my Grandpa hold her hand and get anything she needed to be comfortable. What a hard time but what an amazing thing to watch and work towards that love in my own marriage. At the end of his talk he asked all the married couples to stand and face each other and hold hands. He had us all renew our wedding vows. I looked around and there were so many eyes filled with tears! What an amazing thing to be able to do! To remind us again of what we committed to 2 years ago or 30 years ago. It was also an awesome thing for some of the high school and college aged kids to witness their parents love for each other. This really made me understand why people renew their wedding vows to celebrate a big anniversary down the road. Its amazing what those words mean to say again even after 2 years. I can't believe all that they will mean after 25 or even 50 years of marriage!
